About Us.

Rhode Island Canine Search and Rescue is a non-profit corporation made up of volunteers who have dedicated their lives to help find missing persons and to bring closure to their families and loved ones.

Our members spend hundreds of hours training to be Wilderness Air-Scent Certified by the Rhode Island State Police. The training includes; obedience, scent theory, navigation with GPS and Map and Compass, National Incident Command System, Radio Communications, First-Aid, and most importantly Teamwork.

Our team members also donate their time to help out other non-profit agencies of Rhode Island. Our team  performs demonstrations, and also "Lost and Found Safe" Courses to schools, camps, and youth groups  to show how important a search dog is when someone is lost and or missing, and how to help from becoming lost.

We also have members on the Team who cross train in cadaver and disaster searches and are certified by the International Police Working Dog Association and the Rhode Island Urban Search and Rescue Team.

The Rhode Island Canine Search and Rescue Team does not receive funding or grants from any source. All moneys generated for the team are done so by the team members through dues, fundraising events, and donations. Currently, all of the team expenses such as transportation costs, specialty equipment, and specialty training are paid for by the individual team members. If you are interested in helping to support our team please contact us.
